Australian cleantech company Vast Solar, a world-leader in concentrated solar thermal power (CSP), and the Solar Methanol Consortium have been selected to receive AUD$19.48m and EUR13.2m from a collaboration between the Australian and German Governments to develop a world-first green methanol demonstration plant, SM1 in Port Augusta, South Australia. The German-Australian Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Incubator (known as HyGATE) is a funding round with up to AUD$50m and EUR50m available to support real-world pilot, trial and demonstration projects along the hydrogen supply chain. It plays a key role in supporting the growth of the clean energy ...
Leader in concentrated solar power (CSP) aims to integrate sodium-ion batteries to maximize energy storage performance. Vast Solar, an Australian company and leading developer of concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) technology, today announced a collaboration with Natron Energy, Inc. («Natron»), a global leader in the manufacturing of sodium-ion batteries. This collaboration includes a Letter of Intent (LOI) to purchase up to 13,500 units of Natron’s sodium-ion batteries for use on Vast Solar 2 (VS2) in Mount Isa. The 50 megawatt (MW) North West Queensland Hybrid Power Project combines a solar photovoltaic system for daytime power generation, CSP thermal ...
Australian renewable energy company Vast Solar is part of a US grouping that has received US$2.3 million from the US government to develop its concentrated solar power (CSP) technology. The company is developing modular solar thermal power, utilising liquid sodium as the solar heat transfer fluid. This is being deployed in VS1 in Port Augusta, South Australia, a 30MW concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) plant, which is supported with $110 million in concessional financing from the federal government. Vast Solar CEO Craig Wood took to social media and said: “The funding is part of $US24 million in grants ...
